General Information on Undergraduate Program

History remains one of the most consistently popular subjects among undergraduate and postgraduate students in Turkey. Our department offers an extensive range of classes covering topics from the Antiquity to the present and including studies of European History, Ancient Greece and Rome, Ancient Turkish History, the Ottoman Empire, Modern Turkish History, and other areas of the world. The philosophy of the curriculum is to enrich the general knowledge of the students and to increase their intellectual capacity in historical studies. The subjects excluding Ottoman Turkish are taught in English for the purpose of enabling the students to read and utilize literature in both languages. There is a large and lively group of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department. The degrees offered are B.Sc. in History at the undergraduate level and M.Sc. and Ph.D. at the graduate level.
