Course Objectives

By the end of the course, the student will:

1. comprehend the basic charactetistics of the time period between the French revolution and World War I,

2. understand the formation of the British world hegemony,

3. will know the struggle among the Europeans for control over the non-Western world.


Course Content

The course examines struggle for mastery in Europe from the emergence of the French Revolution to the dawn of modern imperialism, studying the alignments and alliances among the great powers.


Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, the student will analyze the related political, social, cultural and economic crises, changes and alliances of the nineteenth century.
