M.S. with thesis in Physical Education and Sports

The graduate program of Physical Education and Sports Department is designed to prepare graduate students as experts on one of the following fields of study; coaching pedagogy, exercise physiology, growth & maturation, motor behavior (including control, development & learning), sports management, sports psychology, and teaching/curriculum-planning in sports sciences. The graduate program equips students with the skills and knowledge to conduct research and to interpret the results to be of value to further development in the related fields.

Program Educational Objectives

  • Graduates of Physical Education and Sports Master program seek to work as an academic member, researcher, consultant, expert, and director in public and private institutions with an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Graduates may also pursue their carriers in related fields, national and international universities, or research and development centers.

MISSION

METU Physical Education and Sports (PES) Department aims at inclusive education through the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of people to bring up healthier, happier, and more successful people to the public. The Department mainly functions in education, teaching, research, and public service areas.

VISION

In five years, the PES Department will broaden, enhance, and develop its teaching, education, research, and service activities, which are now proper and equal to norms and standards of European Union universities. In this respect, the PES Department will have qualified academic staff members and students, both of whom will be capable of using advanced educational technology. Thus, the Department will be an outstanding institution in providing academic staff members for other universities’ sports sciences and physical education and sports departments.
