Course Objectives

By taking this course, students will

  • understand the nature of research and how it relates to educational practice
  • understand the different purposes and assumptions of quantitative and qualitative research
  • conduct a review of literature on a specific educational topic
  • understand the basic procedures involved in sampling, measurement, and design
  • develop skills in comprehending, interpreting, evaluating, and applying the findings of published research articles and other research reports
  • develop an ability to conceptualize, develop, carry out, and write a research proposal. 

Course Content

An overview of educational research process and procedures; understanding and developing competence in research methods; application of different research designs.
