M.S. with thesis in English Literature
The program aims to provide students with a thorough knowledge of English literature from the Middle Ages to the present, to enable students to investigate the relationships between literature and intellectual trends, and also to enable students to develop a critical approach to literature.
Outcomes
- compare and contrast literary texts written in different periods of British literature in terms of form and content.
- appreciate authors who emerge out of non-British contexts.
- approach the notion of the literary canon from a critical perspective.
- read and interpret texts critically from different theoretical vantage points.
- become acquainted with the characteristics of various genres of literature.
- identify major themes and generic features of literary texts.
- analyze the relationships between form and content in literary texts.
- outline the major lines of critical argument around literary and cultural texts.
- write insighful papers on different literary topics.
- articulate their ideas with a critical awareness in literary discussions.
- decipher different literary texts in terms of structure and technical features.
