Ph.D. in English Language Teaching

The program aims to provide students with a firm foundation in the theoretical and applied aspects of English Language Teaching and to provide the necessary background for students who intend to become program administrators and curriculum specialists.

Outcomes

  • synthesize, critically assess, and improve theoretical and practical findings on contemporary research.
  • evaluate the existing research methods and techniques and carry out research autonomously in order to make contributions to the field.
  • carry out studies with a scientific point of view in order to meet the educational needs in national and international contexts.
  • demonstrate the necessary skills to conduct independent research with scientific research methods and share research findings at academic meetings or other settings both orally and in written form.
  • convey contemporary theories and practices to pre/in service teachers, administrators and other stakeholders.
  • suggest solutions to educational problems by investigating instructional processes in different contexts and with critical points of view.
  • use theoretical and practical knowledge on social, cultural and individual varilables of language learning to improve the practices of national English language teaching and learning.
  • analyze the theories and applications in English as a second or foreign language acquisition or applied linguistics and relate them to English language teaching and learning.
  • with an innovative perspective conduct research on the latest instructional developments.
  • carry out studies to suggest instructional models, policies and methods to meet the local and national instructional needs.
