Course Objectives

Students are expected to 

  • understand basic concepts and principles of nutrition.
  • comprehend the structure and functions of human digestive system.
  • gain an understanding of essential nutrients.
  • gain knowledge about nutrient requirements of a pregnant woman, lactating woman, infants and children.
  • comprehend how to overcome the malnutrition problems in children.

Course Content

Healthy eating habits, mitigation with obesity, food additives and contaminants, exercising in daily life, growth and development, characteristics of sexually healthy individuals, addiction, first aid.


Course Learning Outcomes

Student will be able to 

  • explain the basic concepts and principles of nutrition in their own words.
  • develop a model representing the structure and functions of human digestive system.
  • explain the roles of essential nutrients for their body.
  • differentiate the nutrient requirements for special periods of human life.
  • propose the consequences of unsustainable nutrition habits.
