Course Objectives
Provide the students with the necessary background on language, methods and tools for groundwater modeling
Expose the students to the usefulness, strengths and limitations of commonly used methods for groundwater modeling
Improve student’s expertise in real-world problem solving using groundwater models
Improve student’s written and oral communication skills through term projects, oral presentations and in-class discussions.
Course Content
Fundamentals of groundwater modeling. Differential equations of confined and unconfined flow. Review of analog models and sand tank models. Analytical and numerical methods. Numerical analysis by finite difference and finite element methods. Computer applications in groundwater modeling.
