Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the student will learn:

  • environmental geological issues
  • to classify and determine the causes of natural hazards
  • to recognize mass wasting
  • the principles and practice of waste disposal.

Course Content

Environmental concepts of population and environment. Hazardous Earth processes; flooding, mass movements, earthquakes, and coastal hazards. Human interaction with environment. Groundwater contamination and the geological aspects of waste disposal. Environmental health.


Course Learning Outcomes

The student who has passed the course will be able to perform:

  • landfill site selection
  • earthquake hazard analyses
  • mass wasting analyses
  • waste disposal liner & barrier design.
