Course Objectives
The course aims to give the fundamentals on the management of construction contracts by particularly focusing on the FIDIC form of contracts. At the end of the semester, the students will have the knowledge on
- the different contract arrangements by assessing the possible risks in the project
- the roles & obligations of the parties
- the terms & conditions corresponding to each procedure & process of works contracts
- the crucial points about drafting & interpreting the contracts
- the main differences between the 1999 Conditions of Contracts and the new 2017 Edition
The case studies will be used as often as possible to increase the learning effectiveness and provide active participation of the students.

Notion of a ``Contract`` and its legal basis, ``How a construction contract works? ``, The link between Supervision and Works contracts, General information about FIDIC, Overview of FIDIC Books and their applications in construction industry, FIDIC family of contracts, Main actors in a FIDIC contract and their roles and responsibilities as per type of book, Drafting a Works contract, Essence of Particular Conditions, Main provisions of Red and Yellow Books, Variations and Adjustments, Delay and Extension of Time, Taking Over Process, Settlement of Disputes.
