Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the student will learn:
• The conceptual and historical foundations of constitutional government and law
• The constitutional movements of the Ottoman Empire and the early Republican period in Turkey
• The key features and differences between the 1961 and 1982 Turkish Constitutions
• Comparative analysis of constitutional systems and their implications
Course Content
This course surveys a conceptual and historical introduction to constitutional government and law. Within that framework, it also examines the constitutional movements of the Ottoman Empire and the early Republican period. In the final part of the course, the 1961 and 1982 Turkish Constitutions are analyzed with a comparative outlook.

Student, who succeeded in this course will be able to:

• Apply comparative analysis to evaluate constitutional systems and their implications
