Course Objectives
1. Develop advanced reading and comprehension skills in Persian, particularly focusing on historical texts, with an emphasis on improving fluency in understanding complex and archaic Persian language structures.
2. Critically engage with historical writings in Persian, exploring their significance, historical context, and contributions to Persian historiography.
3. Study the major historical sources and works from the Persian-speaking world, focusing on key texts from various periods of Iranian history, from the medieval to early modern era.
Course Content
This course is designed to provide the students of History Department and Graduate program of Middle East Studies advanced rules of reading and analyzing historical texts in Persian language.

Demonstrate Advanced Reading Skills: Exhibit a high level of proficiency in reading and understanding complex Persian historical texts, including classical and early modern works.

Interpret Historical Texts: Be able to interpret and analyze Persian historical writings with a deep understanding of their cultural, social, and political contexts, identifying key themes and historical perspectives.

Translate and Interpret Persian Historical Documents: Effectively translate Persian historical texts into English (or another target language), demonstrating accuracy in preserving both the meaning and historical context.

Critically Analyze Persian Historiography: Critically analyze the evolution of Persian historiography, recognizing the key historiographical debates and methodologies used in Persian historical writing.
