Course Objectives
The students are expected to understand cultural and positional differences between and across different forms of architectural criticism.
The students are expected to develop a critical consciousness towards contemporary physical context as well as cultural, political, social and historical determinants of architectural medium.
The students will gain an ability to develop comparative analysis and realize a critical presentation with reference to different contextual properties of built environment in different scales.
Course Content
A critical survey of selected themes, concepts, buildings and architects concerning contemporary architecture. Students are encouraged to take an active role and engage in architectural criticism/activities.
Course Learning Outcomes
The students will develope an alternative critical ground where conceptual frames of architecture as well as contemporary architectural production should be analyzed within the assimilating and alienating effects of global transformations. The end product of the course is expected to be an exhibition based upon personal presentations representing transformations in different fields and their reflections on architecture.
