Course Objectives
This course aims to give students:
- comprehension of security concepts related to networking,
- the ability to assess security threats in a networked environment,
- experience with the tools and methods to counter said threats,
- an understanding of the relevant cryptographic techniques, and,
- familiarity with specialized fields such as network forensics, anonymity mechanisms etc.
Course Content
This course will cover fundamentals of network security. The course provides a strong foundation in network security. The following topics are covered: encryption techniques, key management and authentication, hashing, public key cryptography, web security, TCP/IP, DDoS attacks, DNS security.
Course Learning Outcomes
The students are expected to have theoretical and applied knowledge about network security concepts.
