CE529 STRUCTURAL DYNAMICS

Course Code:5620529
METU Credit (Theoretical-Laboratory hours/week):3 (3.00 - 0.00)
ECTS Credit:8.0
Department:Civil Engineering
Language of Instruction:English
Level of Study:Graduate
Course Coordinator:Prof.Dr. YALIN ARICI
Offered Semester:Fall or Spring Semesters.

Course Objectives

Learning and understanding dynamic properties of systems, studying methods to formulate and solve equations of motions, analyzing systems under dynamic loadings.

Course Content

Dynamic disturbances. Single and multi degree of freedom systems. Continuous systems. Equations of motion. Energy methods in structural dynamics. Application in structural design. Earthquake response of structures.

Course Learning Outcomes

Lectures, homeworks, term projects are aimed to teach students the target course objectives. SDOF syustems are covered to also introduce dynamic problems, related system properties. Background information is repeated to formulate and solve equations of motions under different dynamic loads. These discussions are extended to MDOF systems to analyze them and ontain internal forces under dynamic loads.
