Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the student’s ability to identify and solve problems will increase on dynamics branch of engineering mechanics.
Course Content
Kinematics of particles and rigid bodies: absolute motion, relative motion. Kinetics of particles: equations of motion, work-energy and impulse-momentum. Systems of particles. Kinetics of rigid bodies: Euler`s equation, plane motion of rigid bodies, kinetic energy of rigid bodies. Introduction to the dynamics of vibrating systems.
Course Learning Outcomes
1. Compute position, velocity and acceleration of a particle subjected to a set of forces by using the appropriate coordinate system
2. Comprehend dynamic equilibrium concept, i.e. equilibrium at any time instant
3. Compute the planar motion of a rigid body subjected to a set of forces by using the appropriate coordinate system
4. Solve simple mechanisms that are composed of pin connected rigid links
5. Solve undamped free and forced vibration problems of single degree of freedom systems
