Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the student will:

  • understand psychometric principles
  • discuss and evaluate a variety of tests including intelligence, personality, and personnel selection
  • evaluate tests that are currently in use in the field of psychological assessment.

Course Content

Principles of measurement and evaluation; methods and techniques used for the measurement and evaluation of student behavior in various domains.


Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • define important terms related to psychological testing (such as reliability, validity)
  • explain the general steps in test construction,
  • describe several different types of psychological assessment,
  • critically evaluate psychometric characteristics of any published psychological tests,
  • discuss various ethical and professional issues related to psychological assessment.
