Course Objectives

This course aims to

(1) introduce the conceptual and procedural principles underlying basic univariate and multivariate procedures

(2) enable students to use SPSS to analyze all major multivariate techniques and to intelligently interpret the outputs

(3) expose students to the manner in which multivariate techniques have been used and reported in the literature.

 


Course Content

Hypothesis testing for one and two sample cases, z, t, F, chi-square distributions. Estimation. Linear correlation and regression. Non parametric statistics. Applications in education. Prerequisite: EDUS 209


Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course students will be able to:

1) gain acquaintance with basic univariate and multivariate procedures and compare their premises

2) undertake tests using SPSS to analyze major univariate and multivariate data

3) draw conclusions from the results of univariate and multivariate data analysis

4) critically analyze how uni- and multivariate techniques have been used and reported in the literature
