Course Content
MAT 100 is a preparatory course for calculus courses. Topics include: Functions and their inverses, operations with functions and graphing techniques, polynomial functions, rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions, trigonometric identities and trigonometric equations, inequalities and solving techniques.
Course Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental concept of a mathematical function and all of its properties (domain, range, composition, etc.)
- Solve systems of equations and inequalities using algebraic techniques, including matrices and determinants.
- Find zeros of polynomials using methods other than factoring and the zero product property.
- Graph polynomial, greatest integer, absolute value, square root, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions.
- Apply properties of exponential and logarithmic functions to solve specific equations and applications.
- Use trigonometric identities
- Solve trigonometric equations
