Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the student will learn:
- basic concepts used in organic chemistry
- structure of organic molecules
- synthesis of organic molecules
- to construct the bridge between organic chemistry and biology
Course Content
Introduction to Organic Chemistry. A new mechanistic approach to the study of chemical reactions and survey of hydrocarbons, alcohols, esters, aldehydes and ketones, carboxylic acids and their derivatives, amines, amino acids and proteins.
Course Learning Outcomes
Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:
- know all kinds of organic functional groups,
- their chemistry
- synthesis of basic functional groups
- transformation of functional groups from one to another
