Course Objectives
To teach basic organic chemistry for engineering students and train their lab skills.
Course Content
An Introduction to Organic Chemistry A new mechanistic approach to the study of chemical reactions and survey of Hydrocarbons, Alcohols, Esters, Aldehydes and Ketones, Carboxylic Acids and their derivatives, Amines, Aminoacids and Proteins. The course emphasizes fundamental properties of organic compounds.
Course Learning Outcomes
The students become able to distiguish classes of organic compounds and estimate products of some reactions of them by applying some basic descriptive and mechanistic information they have learned throughout the course.
