Course Objectives
The purpose of this course is:
- To facilitate the development of therapy skills, including assessment, conceptualization, treatment planning, and intervention.
- To increase skills in making good use of supervision
- To increase awareness and skills in using oneself and one's reactions as a tool in therapy.
- To develop students' theoretical orientation
- To facilitate learning intervention techniques from a variety of orientations
- To gain an understanding of what it means to operate in a professional manner.
Course Content
Internship courses are intended to provide supervised clinical experience in diverse clinical settings. The clinical experience may involve observations, applications of psychological assessment and psychotherapy. The department will announce areas and settings in which internship will be offered.
Course Learning Outcomes
- To facilitate the development of therapy skills, including assessment, conceptualization, treatment planning, and intervention.
- Use various assessment methods, such as objective assessment methods, clinical interview methods
- Conceptualize client's presenting problems within a clinical framework
- Plan clinical treatment
- Implement clinical treatment
- To increase skills in making good use of supervision
- Receive feedback from supervisor
- Evaluate feedback and determine personal appropriateness
- Make necessary changes in therapy setting based on feedback
- To increase awareness and skills in using oneself and one's reactions as a tool in therapy.
- Notice one's reactions towards the client
- Evaluate one's reactions towards the client
- Differentiate countertransference from therapist reactions based on client's interpersonal style
- Give client appropriate feedback
- To develop students' theoretical orientation
- Describe one's theoretical orientation in detail
- Identify personal and professional reasons for choosing a certain theoretical orientation
- Conceptualize, plan treatment, and implement treatment in accordance with one's theoretical orientation
