Course Objectives

This course is designed to provide students with the basic information needed to,

  • Understand the nature of educational research

  • Design their own research investigation

  • Understand the literature of educational research.

  • provide students with the tools and skills required to understand research terminology and assess published research

  • offers an overview of the different approaches, considerations and challenges involved in educational research


Course Content

Basic research designs constructed for hypothesis testing, their relevancies, their weaknesses .


Course Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to

  • identify the types of methods best suited for investigating different types of problems and questions
  • develop research questions that are based on and build upon a critical appraisal of existing research
  • design a research proposal
  • know and understand the different approaches, considerations and challenges involved in educational research
