Course Objectives
At the end of the course, the students are expected to
- Develop and assess STEM learning activities and engage in STEM practices of inquiry
- Implement engineering design processes and mathematical content for approaching and solving real-world problems.
- Use STEM activities in mathematics teaching through multidisciplinary teaching techniques.
- Communicate effectively and learn teamwork.
Course Content
Theaching and learning of mathematics in an interdisciplinary context , the role of mathematics in STEM education, applications of mathematics to real-world problems, mathematical problem solving through teamwork, designing a prototype for the solution of a problem from an engineering perspective, making assumptions, developing possible solutions and making decision for best promising solution, understanding mathematical structure conceptually and interpreting the solution.
Course Learning Outcomes
Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:
- Define STEM and explain how to integrate subject areas.
- Explain relations within STEM subject areas.
- Explain relationships between mathematics and other disciplines
- Explain and experience application of mathematics in real life
