Course Objectives

The aim of this course is to introduce students main themes and issues in politics and its relation with society. It presents a descriptive account and conceptual framework of the themes and issues related to politics and society. The course will provide students with an introductory knowledge on politics, political ideologies, state, democracy, power, civil society, nations and nationalism, political parties, regime type, representation and elections, groups, interest groups, social movements and global governance.

The students are expected to have acquire a descriptive account and conceptual framework for the further study of issues related to social and political transformation, social and political change, state and non-state actors, civil society, nationalism, democratization and democracy?
