Course Objectives

To examine research methods/theoretical methods, their interpretation and ethnographic comparisons on the basis of archaeological findings.


Course Content

The lecture has the main emphasis on the reconstruction of activities in houses/settlements and the interpretation of archaeological findings (Neolithic to Early Iron Age, approximately 8000-800 BC cal.).

Students, who passed this course with success are able to:

  • Understand domestic activities in an archaeological context
  • Interpret objects and their function
  • Interpret domestic activities on the base of excavation results/documentation
  • Define domestic activities in settlements
  • Understand research methods which are necessary for the identification of domestic activities
