Course Content
This course aims to expand students' knowledge and understanding of medical conditions from a health psychology perspective. It highlights how psychological, behavioral, and social factors influence the onset, progression, and management of chronic illnesses. Students will learn about relevant concepts such as the biopsychosocial model, coping processes, emotional responses, and care interactions in the context of long-term physical conditions e.g., cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, chronic pain, and others. The course consists of two parts: at the first part, the instructor will introduce some topics in the management of chronic conditions and will present chronic kidney disease as an example. The second part belongs to the students since they are expected to present selected long-term physical conditions. In the presentations, students are expected to provide medical, treatment and psychosocial aspects of the selected condition.
