Course Objectives
Electromagnetic Waves and Electro-optics will teach you fundamental concepts and tools that will be necessary for a better understanding of light interacts with non-isotropic materilas areas such as different types of crystals. At the end of this course you will have a better understanding of the following topics:
- Light interaction with certain crystal geometries
- Electro-optic effect
- Non-linear interactions
The information you will learn in this course will form a basis upon which you will build up new blocks in the future. The topics above are broad and cannot be covered in a one semester course so we will focus on specific examples which will aid your understanding of the subject matter.
Course Content
ELECTROMAG.WAVES AND ELECTRO-OPTICS
Course Learning Outcomes
Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:
- learn how light intracts with non-isotropic media
- learn how various properties of light can influence the response of the medium
- learn how light behaves in an electro-optic medium
- learn how light behaves in the non-linear regime
