Course Objectives
To develop the skill to read and write about topics presented in the course and similar topics. To understand and critically discuss the basic views on explanation. To be able to reconstruct and critically evaluate the main replies to the questions about the relationship between IBE and the formal structure of theories.
Course Content
The nature and methods of science. Scientific laws and lawlike statements. The principle o causality. Logical analysis of scientific explanation. Kinds of explanation. Critical appraisal of current views on scientific explanation. Explanation and prediction.
