Course Objectives
This course is designed to introduce seniors in petroleum engineering the basic concepts of underground gas storage for designing the porous and non-porous storage systems.
Course Content
Aspects of energy related to gas storage, degree day concept, base load, peak load. Properties of gas storage reservoirs, aquifer storage, salt cavern storage. Design, development and operation of storage fields.
Course Learning Outcomes
Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to:
- understand the aspects of underground gas storage
- understand the differences and characteristics of various storage mediums, such as aquifers, salt caverns, depleted reservoirs.
- learn design, development and operation procedures of storage fields
