Course Objectives
It is aimed that students attending to this course will gain information on following items:
- Developments leading to modern jazz,
- Important features of the major genres of modern jazz,
- Effects of historical and social incidents on jazz.
This course will also help the students to increase their understanding, enjoyment and appreciation of music.
Course Content
The purpose of this course is to teach the art of jazz by giving main examples or studies of classic or modern jazz.
Course Learning Outcomes
Students attending to this course will:
- Be able to recognize Jazz song forms
- Be able to compare and contrast different genres of Jazz
- Know the characteristics of the following and be able to distinguish them: Bebop, Cool Jazz, Hard-bop, Free Jazz
