Course Objectives
At the end of this course, the students will know the major theories, such as radical constructivism and sociocultural perspectives in mathematics education, and explain the differences between these major theories and their use in developing research projects.
Course Content
Provides an introduction to theoretical perspectives in mathematics education. Review the major theories in the field. Develop an understanding of how people learn mathematics though the lenses of different theoretical perspectives. Implications of these theoretical perspectives on research, teaching, and learning will be considered.

By the end of this course, the students will;
- Contrast a variety of theories in mathematics education
- Investigate the effects of different lenses on research in mathematics education
- Explain the pragmatic implications of different theoretical perspectives in mathematics education
