Course Objectives

understand the goal of science education

familiar with research and trends in science education

familiar with issues in science education research

familiar with various research studies in science learning and teaching and science teacher education

analyze the strengths, weakness, and gaps of  the existing research

aware of gender issues in science education research

maintain an open and questioning mind towards new ideas and alternative points of view

appreciate the relation  of science with society, culture and gender

gain an experience on designing and conducting a scientific research

show concern for ethical issues while conducting research


Course Content

Provides a study on the current state of theory and research on learning, teaching and curriculum in school science and aims to provide an opportunity for researchers in science education to reconsider the next step of research in the field. Helps students not only to identify research topics, methods and trends in science education but also to recognize the research issues con temporarily highlighted.
