Course Objectives

At the end of the course student should be able to: Apply theories of problem solving to teaching mathematics/science; apply problem solving  techniques into school mathematics/science; understand relationship between problem solving and cognitive style; understand meta-cognitive behavior during the problem solving; apply measurement/evaluation techniques into problem solving situations in mathematics/science; understand relationship between problem solving and mathematical modeling; understand relationship between problem solving ability and affective variable; To be familiar with the works of researchers in problem solving in mathematics/science. be self-confident in teaching their subject area.


Course Content

Theories of problem solving; problem solving strategies; evaluation of problem solving ability; relationship between problem solving ability and affective variables; relationship between problem solving and cognitive style; meta-cognitive behavior during the problem solving; relationship between problem solving method and mathematical modeling; extensive experience and practice in solving problems and evaluation of problem solving performances.


Course Learning Outcomes

Student, who passed the course satisfactorily will be able to: apply their knowledge and skills on problem solving to new situations.
