Course Objectives

The students will be able to

  • Explain the characteristics of educational research and scientific method.

  • Describe the basic steps utilized in the educational research.

  • Formulate a research problem while applying characteristics of a good question.

  • Explain the importance of operational definitions to clarify the terms used in a research.

  • State responsibilities of a researcher to protect participants from any harm.

  • State research hypotheses.

  • Distinguish characteristics of different variables used in educational research.

  • Conduct a literature search on computers and at library.

  • Describe different types of sampling strategies.

  • Demonstrate knowledge regarding sample and population.

  • Explain types of measurement instruments used in educational research.

  • Describe what is meant by validity and reliability.


Course Content

Provides opportunities for students to understand research process in education. With the help of this understanding students will be able to design their own research.
