Course Objectives

By the end of the course, the students will be able to

  • determine the criteria to be considered when evaluating chemistry textbooks.
  • evaluate a chemistry textbook
  • determine the problems that exist in chemistry textbooks

Course Content

Standards that a textbook should have regarding physical, educational, visual design and language characteristics; appropriateness of the content of textbooks with the chemistry program of instruction; evaluation of some current textbooks in terms of their content, use of language, appropriateness to the student level, format, visual design, contribution to the meaningful learning, ease to use and etc.
