  • Discuss science, technology and society relationships in educational context
  • Implement science, technology, and society  topics into classroom
  • Analyze risks and benefits of recent technologies and developments in science

Course Content

Historical perspective of science and technology relations, historical development of science and technology, the effect of science and technology on society, science as common heritage of mankind, frontiers of science-foreign and Turkish scientists, the effect of contemporary development in science to society and our life, recent studies in space and aviation, copyright rules.


Course Learning Outcomes

A course targets to introduce students with alternative views of science and technology such as sociology and history of science. The purpose of the course is to introduce the foundations of STS based science education instruction, to present the rationale of STS issues, to help students to compare STS approach in education with traditional approaches, to create STS based lessons and class materials and to develop knowledge of STS.
