Course Objectives

This course is intended to teach the basic field,in- situ tests utilized in  rock mechanics. Basic principles of testing, procedures, calculations and reporting are extensively given.Examples of the realized projects documents is discussed.


Course Content

In-situ strength, deformation and stress, measurement of permeability, ground water; pressure instrumentation and monitoring techniques used in tunneling; large underground excavations, slopes, open pits and underground mines; measurement of accelerations due to large blasts or earthquakes.
