Course Objectives

1. Know advanced methods applied for mineral and solid fossil fuels preparation & beneficiation.

2. Know recent tools replacing conventional equipment and methods in mineral and solid fossil fuels preparation & beneficiation.

3. Recognize novel approaches replacing conventional mineral processing applications.


Course Content

Development of new methods and equipments for treatment of ores; e.g., selective flocculation and flotation, progress in magnetic separation. Seminars by students on selected topics in advanced treatment of ores.


Course Learning Outcomes

1. Explain advanced methods and technologies for the processing of metallic and industrial minerals.

2. Explain advanced methods and technologies for the preparation of solid fossil fuels.

3. Compare differences produced by application of novel approaches instead of conventional mineral processing routes.

4. Learn effective use of computer applications in design and operation of mineral processing circuits.

5. Evaluate economical and technical benefits of novel methods and equipment rather than use of conventional tools in mineral processing.
