Course Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the course students will be able to:

1. Explore how mathematical modeling principles enhance our understanding of complex systems in science and engineering.

2. Learn to identify and model real-world problems, utilizing dimensional analysis and scaling to prepare mathematical models for analysis.

3. Apply various analytic and computational tools to analyze mathematical models, developing improved quantitative and analytical skills.

4. Study methods for comparing modeling results to observations, understanding how to refine models based on discrepancies.

5. Apply modeling techniques in projects or homeworks, producing detailed reports that demonstrate their ability to solve real-world problems and justify reasoning using appropriate mathematical and scientific terminology.

6. Work collaboratively to gather, compare, and summarize information from diverse sources and disciplines, utilizing computer software for mathematical modeling.
