Course Objectives
The role definitions and work settings of the counselor, desired requisite preparation of counseling practice and the related ethical standards.
This course covers principles and issues of professionalism and ethics in counseling. A main goal of this course is to introduce students to ethical principles, professional guidelines, and a systematic model of ethical decision making.

As a result of taking this course, student will:
Understand ethical terminology and define an ethical dilemma,
Understand the components of moral behavior,
Understand the standards, code of ethics, and ethical principles.
Explain ethical desicion making steps.
Demonstrate use of an ethical desicion making model
Explain the key chalenges facing counselors such as counselor competency, informed concent, confidentiality, and priviledged communicatiion, exceptions to confidentiality, multiple relationship, and record keeping
