Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the student will learn:

1.    Define the duties and job specifications of a psychological counselor working at the elementary and middle school environments 
2.    Plan large group counseling practices 
3.    Implement large group counseling practices 
4.    Plan in-class guidance and counseling activities 
5.    Implement in-class guidance and counseling activities 
6.    Plan individual counseling practices      
7.    Implement individual counseling practices 
8.    Define the test related and unrelated techniques that are used during the counseling practices 
9.    Implement the test related and unrelated techniques to a group of students 
10.    Evaluate and report the test related and unrelated guidance and psychological counseling practices 
11.    Present all field practices as part of the group supervision 
12.    Evaluate and report all field practices (will be submitted to the teaching staff/instructors) 

 


Course Content

In this practicum course, students attend to counseling services where they are expected to observe and practice guidance activities based on the needs of a particular school. Every student administers a test or non test guidance technique, writes observation reports about the schools and conducts a research project.
