Course Objectives
Course Content
Relationships among ruined historical cities and devastative earthquakes, review of destructive historical earthquakes. Paleoseismological nomenclature, active faults and their field identification, trenching, paleoseismological data and determination of timing, slip rate and recurrence interval of peak earthquakes. Monitoring fluid geochemistry in seismically active regions – background information and case studies relevant to hydrogeochemical tracers, gas anomalies and isotope compositions. Preparation of microzonation maps.
