Course Objectives
Understanding basic lithospheric mechanics
Understanding Mechanisms and classifications of basins
Understanding controls on stratigraphy
Understanding the interplay between tectonics and depositional styles
Course Content
Paleocurrents, fabrics and geophysical properties, cross bedding and ripple mark, linear structures, deformation, internal structures, dispersal and current systems, sedimentary models, methods of study.
Course Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to understand different basin types, and their 3D geometries, and control on their stratigraphy in terms of lithospheric mechanics and surface processes.
