Course Objectives

The course aims to

- build on FLE 325 to familiarize students with the major characteristics and concerns of the English novel of the 20th and 21st centuries.

- contextualize the 20th and 21st century English novel by relating it to the social and political circumstances of these perios.

A continuation of FLE 325.

At the end of the course the students will be able to

- identify the major themes, and styles of the concerns of the English novel of the 20th and 21st centuries.

- analyze and discuss selected examples of the English novel of the 20th and 21st centuries.

- place the 20th and 21st century English novel in its social, historical and political contexts.
