Course Objectives

The aim of the course is to develop all language skills ( reading, listening, speaking an writing) at A1 level; to develop communication skills in typical everday situations; to introduce basic vocabulary and grammatical structures to communicate in everday situations; to provide tools for further development of language skills.

Course aims:

During this course, you will learn basic German vocabulary and grammar. We will incorporate spaeking, reading and listening activities in addition to written assignments. Your goal should be that, by the end of this course, you are able to participate in basic converstions, as well as read and write in German.


Course Content

German grammar, German grammar compared to English grammar. Language training in German.


Course Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, students should be able to:

1. discusstopics utilizing vocabulary from a variety of themes/ topics including: a) family, numbers and telling time; b) hobbies, sports, and free time activities c) school seasons and holidays;

2. use correct verb forms (conjugation): a) irregular verbs sein, haben, werden; b) important verbs like essen, trinken, besitzen c) modalverbs mögen, möchten, können;

3. identify the correct gender and pluralforms of nouns and use appropriate pronouns;

4. ask guestions: a) yes/ no gustions b) use questions words wer, wen, was, wohin, warum;

5. distinguish between the nominative and accusativ cases (definite and indefinite articels);

6. identify numbers for use counting, dates, and telling time;

7. negate using "nicht" and "kein;

8) identify similarities and fifferences in German and Turkish culture
