By the end of the course, students will be able to:

read and understand long passages on academic topics.

answer questions about details, inferences, sentence restatements, sentence insertion, vocabulary, pronoun reference function, and overall ideas.

determine main ideas, details, function, stance, inferences, and overall organization from listening passages and related questions.

answer opinion questions about some aspect of academic life.

listen to long passages and summarize and offer opinions on the information in the passages.

read an academic essay and listen to an academic passage, and write about how the ideas in the two passages are related.
