Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will

  • learn and reflect on different types of approaches to Instructional Design in English Language Teaching (ELT).
  • compare and contrast national and international methods in Instructional Design in ELT.
  • receive theoretical input and practical applications on the latest Instructional Design methods in ELT.
  • conduct research by using current Instructional Design approaches for various student profiles and settings in ELT.

Course Content

Current theory and practice in the field of instructional design and practice in creating effective designs for instruction in English language teaching by selecting and using current techniques according to the specific needs of the learners. Research work, applications and paper presentations.


Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • study different Instructional Design Approaches for ELT/EFL classrooms.
  • compare and contrast different methods in Instructional Design in national and international ELT/EFL contexts. 
  • learn different techniques to adapt and adopt Instructional Design for ELT/EFL curricula. 
  • listen to lectures on topics related to Instructional Design in ELT.
  • carry out short assignments to reflect on the latest approaches and methods in Instructional Design in ELT.
  • conduct a research study on Instructional Design in ELT/EFL by using the current methods and to meet the needs in national EFL/EFL classrooms.
