Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will
- learn and reflect on the historical background of Instructional Technology in English Language Teaching (ELT).
- receive theoretical input and practical applications on Instructional Technology in ELT.
- conduct research on Instructional Technology in ELT.
- learn how to integrate Instructional Technology in ELT/EFL curriculum.
- acquire skills for training ELT teachers for using Instructional Technology in ELT/EFL.
Course Content
Current developments in the use of instructional technology in language teaching; use of computers, interactive video, television and video in language teaching; approaches to the design, evaluation, development and application of English language teaching courseware by using instructional technology.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, students will be able to
- observe different Instructional Technology tool and applications for ELT/EFL classrooms.
- learn different techniques to adapt and adopt Instructional Technology for ELT/EFL curriculum.
- observe teacher demonstrations on how to use Instructional Technology in ELT/EFL.
- listen to lectures on topics related to Instructional Technology and ELT.
- carry out short assignments on how to integrate Instructional Technology effectively in order to enhance ELT/EFL instruction.
- conduct a small scale research on Instructional Technology and ELT/EFL.
- learn how to design a workshop on how to train EFL/ELT teachers to use Instructional Technology effectively.
