Course Objectives

This course aims to inform the participants of contemporary novel pedagogical/instructional approaches, methods, techniques and  state-of-the-art trends related to English Language Teaching (ELT) and evaluate the theoretical and practical underpinnings of these contemporary approaches, methods and trends from a critical perspective.


Course Content

Examining major approaches to, methods and techniques of English language teaching; studying linguistic and psychological theories behind them; practical applications on techniques for teaching various language skills, specifically listening and speaking.


Course Learning Outcomes

By the end  of the course, participants will be able to

*critically analyze the affordances and challenges of contemporary, novel/innovative pedagogical/instructional approaches, methods, techniques and state-of-the-art trends in English Language Teaching (ELT).

*create an action plan on how to integrate these contemporary, novel/innovative pedagogical approaches, methods, techniques and trends in ELT into their own classroom practices.

* produce an academic research paper based on one of the contemporary, novel/innovative pedagogical approaches and trends in ELT
